Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - Time Line for Raggdy Ann History

Well, I bet you never thought we would get to the end of the month.   We're here.   It's been fun and I really didn't think I would make it for 30 days.    It has been great fun sharing my Raggedys with you.    Come back tomorrow because we start National Dollhouse Miniature Month and I do post all 31 days!!!!   If you're not a follower, sign up.  Leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Here is a great time line for evolution of Raggedy Ann and Andy.   Sorry you have to scroll from left to right.    I have listed the link below so maybe that would be easier than scrolling.   Enjoy.

I'm going to give a link to the Pinterest site where I found this.  Raggedy Time Line

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - Oh I love this quilt!!

For several years I had been buying (from eBay) these embroidered squares.   I thought I could quilt them and then decided I would look for a professional quilter.   After inquiring around I found a woman in Florida, in the Ft. Myers area, and worked with her on doing this quilt.   We talked several times and came up with the following:

The bottom picture is a king-sized pillow sham that was made from a couple of the squares.   I thought she did an absolutely fantastic job.   The back is the same dark red that outlines the squares.   All in all, it took several years to find them all and get the quilt made, but certainly worth it.

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - Retirement Plaques

I made a career decision when I was 60 and that was to retire early.   I wasn't sure I could make it work because I had a child still in college and I wanted him to get his degree without any student loans and I wanted my house paid off.    If you don't know, I have an MBA in Finance.   I thought I could do it, but thinking you can and doing it can be light years apart.   When here I am 9 years later and all is going well.   I have to admit that there were times when I thought I had made the worst mistake of my life.

At my retirement party, I wasn't sure they all knew how fond I was of Raggedy Anns & Andys.   When I walked in, I saw these plaques.   One of me and one of my husband.   It was a fun party!!!!

Aren't we cute.   Sometimes I am overwhelmed with realizing I have been retired that long, but I absolutely love it.

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - Surrounding the door, part 2

As I said yesterday, I have to find room for Raggedy Anns where I can.    This is a cute little doll with a doll.   I love it.  Also an eBay find!

I do love my collection.   See you tomorrow!

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - Surrounding the door, part 1

I have run out of wall space and that is just fine.   I keep finding more and more place to put things.

Here a couple of plaques that I purchased from a fellow Raggedy Collector.   We all try our hands at making things and I loved them.

Aren't they cute!

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - Pins!!!

Another eBay find, about 10 years ago, were these pins.   They stayed in an evelope for years and finally I decided they needed to be mounted.   So glad I can see them everyday.

So much better to have them out where I can see them.

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - Raggedy Ann is having a bad hair day!

I love eBay if you haven't picked that up from a prior post.    I found these bowls years and years ago!!   A different take on most Raggedy Anns.    I know it's not Raggedy Andy's birthday, but isn't he cute!.

I find it interesting how Raggedy Ann inspires so many different versions!!!

See you tomorrow!

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - People adding to your collection. Thanks Meggan!

One thing about collecting items - people who don't collect them will pass them along.   One of my friends gave me this little bowl.    It looks nice on the little holder.

I love it when people think of me as a recipient of their things knowing that I will love the item as much as they do.

Raggedy Ann turns 100 - Things to do with License Plates.

I love license plates as I mentioned yesterday.   One of my Raggedy Friends was selling some creations that her husband had made.   Well, of course, I had to have one.   Isn't it lovely.   It actually on a red base but for some reason the red isn't showing up in the picture (after about 5 tries).   You'll just have to take my word.

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - Let's put a license on it!

I love license plates!!!.   I have quite a few - I'm not as obsessive with them as with other things -- but I do like them.

This is one I stumbled across in a flea market.   I wonder how many more Raggedy Ann licenses are out there?    Maybe I will have to start looking.

Oops, my Hershey's snuck into the picture.   I like Chocolate too!.   Come back tomorrow to see what you can do with license plates other than mount them on a wall.

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - Two of my favorite things - Bears and Raggedies

At the Lakeland Show, my friend Susan W. told me about a cute little bear with an even cuter Raggedy Ann.   She was absolutely right.

She has such a peaceful look on her face.   Very cute.

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - What a nice little theatre

One of the things that happens when people know you collect something is that people want to give you or sell you something.   Some of that is good and some not so good.   I had a friend Pat G. from Lakeland and she had this little theatre.    I wasn't sure I was interested by her description, but I was to see her at a miniature show and told her to bring it along.   IMMEDIATELY I was interested and home it went with me.   So very glad I got it.

Added a dime to the picture.   This is not a miniature per se, but small.

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - a little doll from my mom.

I got my first Raggedy Ann from my mother as a child.   She went a road trip with one of her groups, probably a church group, and found this little wonderful lady for my collection.   It's small but ever so cute.

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - A little wooden joined doll

I for the life of me I couldn't tell you where or from whom this doll came from.   I have had it with me for a very long time.    It might have been a find on a shopping trip or a gift and unfortunately I don't know what it is.   Doesn't change the fact that I love this doll.  Again, the dime.   Not a miniature, but small doll.

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - My first miniature scene with Raggedies!

This was the first Raggedy Ann Miniature Scene.   The chair was originally pink, I wanted Blue so I learned how to reupholster this little chair.   In the chair are two dolls made by my friend Betty in Leavenworth Ks.   I added lots of other Raggedies and some pets.    It was so much fun and I still love it.

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - A cute little play station!!!

If I was a kid, I'd love this little playstation.   I would love it at my age.   What fun I'd have!

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - What a nice little camel ride!

I found this at the Lakeland Show this past year.   I love it.   Look at the hat the camel is wearing - identical to Andy's hat.

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - A mean little Raggedy

I loved this Raggedy Ann.   She, unfortunately, has a mean streak.   Look what she did to her teddy bear.  Not Nice.   Hopefully she won't tear up anything else.

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - Shoes

I don't know why I thought I had to have these shoes.   When I bought them, I didn't have a small child or a grandchild.   Now I don't think they could be pryed from my hands.    Aren't they cute.   I think I need a big pair for me that are similar

Now - don't you wish you had a pair.

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - More Raggedy

This is absolutely, positively one of my favorite miniature scenes.   I do hope you like it.

My Raggedies are in a traveling mode. Their little owner takes her Raggedies everywhere and when she has a minute she sets up their home (away from home) right in the trunk she caries with her. This is 1 inch scale.

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - Raggedy Tree

My Christmas tree changes a bit every year - either by the size of the tree, a few new ornaments added, etc.    Some years it is the only tree I set up.   We generally have a tree in the Living Room, but always one in the family room.   When we don't expect our son and his family, we generally just put up the Raggedy Tree and that works fine with me.

Since it's Sepember, I am already thinking of decorating for Christmas.   Raggedy ornaments will come out again.   Like seeing old friends.

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - Little cake stands make great settings for Raggedies

My friend Barb K, came down from Ft. Myers to Key West via ferry and brought me a present.   A couple of SMALL cake stands were wonderful and I vaguely knew what I would be doing with them.   Knowing and doing are so very far apart.   They have been within two feet of my workbench and still nothing.   I was about to think I would have to use my one-time-a-year pass with the OMB project when I thought - Let's do the Cake Stands.    I really thought I would do just the larger of the two, until the 2nd one almost finished itself.

Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - July OMB - Raggedy Ann & Andy Project

When I was at the Lakeland Show, my friend Susan Wener, asked me if I saw this kit.   Well, I hadn't so her helper showed me which booth was selling it.   Well, I would be the first to know that I didn't need any more kits of any kind - way too many to still finish up.   That logic didn't phase me at all.   What would one more little quarter scale kit mean.   Wouldn't take up too much space and wasn't too expensive.
Well, a box of parts.   Gee what fun!!!

When it has 'July' in the title, how can I not do it for the JULY OMB project.   Please don't tell me what shops are for the other months of the year.    I can resist anything but temptation.
I love the little rocking horse and RA in the wagon in the attic.

Lot of plates, mirrors, clocks and other RA things.  The little table was from Ruth G.   in a swap.

Aren't these little guys cute!!!!   Found them at the Lakeland show.

The little shop fits in a dust proof plastic container.   Always another good feature!     If you'd like to see all posts as soon as they are available, sign up as a follower and a follower that is notified by email when it's available.   I love my followers!!!!
