National Dollhouse Miniature Month - Day 12 - Bedroom 3

Probably getting tired after looks at the past two bedrooms.   Go get a cup of coffee and enjoy the bedroom of today.

Oh, did I tell you red is my favorite color.   I had the bed and received the pillow shams and spread in a swap.   They look love.   

More stuff on the back wall.   It really will hold a lot - note the shelf.

The little jewelry box was a small Christmas ornament and it made a great side accessory.   Cookies, a lamp, and a glass to finish off the table.

Candy - well of course - it's what I call my Valentine room.

Don't forget to add things like purses.   Draped over the chair.   I think I'd like this purse in a full scale. 

A tray on the bed with flowers and other accessories.   Love the tray.  

Don't you think this would be a great room.   By the way, I love black and white floors.  You will notice them in lots of my miniatures.

National Dollhouse Miniature Month - Day 11 - Bedroom 2

I hope you enjoyed the bedroom yesterday.   Here's my second bedroom.  

Here's my red floral bedroom with gingham.   I absolutely loved this little scrap of fabric.   Had enough for a bedspread and table cover.   The fabric was in my stash for probably a decade, maybe more, before a found a use of it.

Food, gown, present and more gingham in the sheets.  The little fluffy blanket is a shoe polishing cloth you find in many hotel rooms.   Made several blankets.  

Table has a lamp, glowers and a small copy of Miniature Collector magazine in which I had a featured article about collecting miniatures.   It's very easy to shrink things like this.

She's getting ready for a trip.   

 The happiness on the headboard is a rub on word from the scrapbook department of your local craft store.   Much nicer than if I had tried to write it myself.   It holds up very good too.

National Dollhouse Miniature Month - Day 10 - I love bedroom decorating - Bedroom 1

I love to decorate shelves, table tops, rooms etc.   The room I like to decorate the most is a bedroom.   They can reflect particular images and they are personal.  

The following bedrooms are all 1/12 scale.  They are displayed in Pioneer Plastic's basketball display case.   Keeps the dust out and you can see from the top and 3 sides.

This is the oldest bedroom that I have done.   The theme is a of a business woman traveling for her job.   She is enjoying a really lovely trip, great room service, a little shopping and, although she misses her family, she does love her job.   Can't you tell from the room that she is one happy woman. 

This is the back panel of the plastic cube.   The painting on my wall is a miniaturized version of one of my original collages.   I love using my art work in my miniatures.  

Room service - Yippee!!   Shrimp, crackers, wine - all great.   

Oh my goodness.  Found the perfect suit, a leopard hap, fancy shoes and purse.   She can hardly wait to get home and wear this great outfit.  

I think I would like these shoes too and the purse too.

National dollhouse Miniature Month - Day 9 - More stuff for the diner

This will be the 3rd time I've featured my diner.   These are minor changes but they add more reality to the scene.

I participated in a swap for a diner and these are the things I am using from that swap.   There were a couple of items that I thought would look better in other projects that I am working on and I will save them for that.

These are the swap items that I am using.   there is a shelf of red glasses, a bowl of ice cream, desserts and two napkin holders with ketchup and mustard containers.

The guy at the counter is eating the ice cream.  The two napkin holders were placed on the counter.

The desserts were placed on the back counter.

Now will you ever see the diner again.   Probably.

National Dollhouse Miniature Month - Day 8 - Diner - will it ever be done?

The first time I posted about this diner it was in October 2011.   You can see it FIRST VISIT TO DINER

This is one picture of the diner when it first appeared in my blog.   I loved it.   If you read the blog you will note that my husband's comment was that the diner would go broke because they only had 2 customers.   Oops - he's probably right.

Well, here is the update.   I added things to the wall behind the counter.   Added a customer and a waitress.   I thought I was finished.

Well guess what.   Not done.   Participated in a swap for a diner and I need to make a few additions.

National Dollhouse Miniature Month - Day 7 - Preserving memories of Miniatures

Well, earlier this month I talked about the old question of What will happen to your things when you die questions.   Well, I'm not especially worried about that, but I am a bit concerned about what will happen to them when I am physically unable to do that.    Nearly all my miniatures are preserved by covers, lids, domes, etc.   You can't let them get covered in dust or you will spend hours cleaning them up.  

I know if I go to a smaller house, a nursing home (hopefully decades from now), my son's house etc... - I will be unable to take hundreds of miniatures.   I have been taking pictures of all my minis, generally for posting on my blog so I have been making photo albums.   I might want to take them with me; my son might want them to show his kids what his grandmother did in her spare time.   

The first album I did was after 2008 when I did the show displaying 26 miniature scenes at the Florida Keys Community College.   I was very flattered to be asked to do that show and happy that it went very well and I wanted to preserve that special feeling.

Well, sometime later, I decided each year should be documented.  

The first album - up to and including the show at the Community College.

 I slowed down a bit after the show so the next album covered two years.

 Two albums.   Take a look at the cover.   Generally it reflects my favorite piece from that year.

 Oh here is my street fair.   It's is 1/12 scale and made in an aquarium used as a coffee table.  LOVE IT.

 Look at the title for 2015.   You don't want to press 'purchase' too early.   I forgot the last couple months of 2014 in its album.

There are many companies that make photo album.   I use Shutterfly because I have really good luck with them.   The first album was 8x8 inch.   After that I changed to 12x12 inch albums.    Shutterfly has many sales - nearly every holiday has great discounts; most of the albums would qualify for free shipping.   I generally get an album done, review it a few times and wait for the next great sale.   (oops - apparently didn't do that with 2014).

I love them and enjoy looking thru them frequently.
