Yard Sale Saturday No. 6

Does it seem like a long time.   I missed posting last Saturday because I was at a miniature show in Lakeland.   Didn't go to a yard sale, but I'm back.   There was only one yard sale in my neighborhood today, but I went.   These poor folks have at least on other yard sale recently because they are moving to Arizona.   Wouldn't want to be there just now with all the people flooding over the border.

I got two oval frames that will house pictures of my granddaughter and a music box   The music box has seen better days but the device making the music still works.   I will probably change it to sit on it's end and make a piece of assemblage art from it.   Stay tuned.

Spent a grand total of 75 cents.   Can't go wrong with that amount considering the entertainment I get from it.

Well, I don't often post follow-ups, but I got my handy-dandy gold paint out and gave a quick touch up to the frames and put two of my favorite pictures of Kaylin in them.

Isn't she a doll!

Yard Sale Saturday - No. 5

Bumper crop of yard sales today.   Advertising on 3 and there turned out to be 5.

I can home with a whole bunch of items: I got a picture frame that holds 2 photos; a covered jar, 2 bags of plastic lemons (never opened); 1 plates, two bowls, vase, and a rustic pumpkin.   Spent a whopping total of $6.25.   Hot bad price for a morning of entertainment.

Yard Sale Saturday - No. 4

Oh, Boo Hoo - I didn't get to any yard sales yesterday.   None in my neighborhood and I had to get ready for a meeting that I was the president of the group.   Couldn't shrug off my responsibility.   However, I decided to make something from previous yard sale finds.   Not exactly the same thing - but close enough.

The candle stick was a yard sale purchase for $1 or less.   I don't pay over $1 for any candle vase because there are so many on the market.   The jar was from a yard sale.   I don't know why I  bought it; just liked its looks.   The lid is from ????   Don't remember.   The knob is from Home Depot.   Bought it.   Love the glitz and glam of it.    The only part that was painted was the base of the candle stick and the lid.   Glued the jar to the candle stick; added the knob to the lid;   ADDED CANDY!!!!.   You have to have candy in a candy dish.   Maybe next week I'll find an actual yard sale.

Love this candy dish!!!

Yard Sale Saturday - No 3

I know yesterday was Friday, but I went yard sale-ing.    It was so fun.   I have friends that when they set up for the sale, they do so on Friday and you can buy as they set up things.   I bought a big blue vase, a cut glass cruet vase, an oil lamp (need these during Hurricane Season  -  which we entered on June 1st and which runs thru November 30), a lamp shade (think I will make a hanging lamp from this) and a little colander.   Didn't need the colander, but it is so cute.   Need had really nothing to do with purchases at a yard sale.

The cruet vase doesn't have a stopper, but maybe I'll find one of them the next time I go to a yard sale.

This morning I thought I would check out another yard sale in my neighborhood.   I found this wonderful rose/heart shaped mirror; a towel bar and a little plastic box that will help with organizing my jewelry stuff.

I just love yard sales.

Yard Sale Saturday (Number 2)

Last Saturday I decided to start a repetitive subject post.   Yard sales, antique shops, consignment shops and related items.    I love them and nearly always find interesting things.   This morning I ran to the nearest yard sale and lo and behold - nothing I wanted and everything way too high.   But not to be outdone, I thought I would post a picture of what I found on trash day by the curb on my morning walk   I walk about 5 am and there is not much to do on the way other than enjoy the privacy of the day.   I do a lot of day dreaming.   Lo and behold I saw something interesting sitting on the sidewalk next to a bunch of trash cans.    Too far away to see for sure what it was but it looked like a lamp.   Generally lamps out on trash day don't work and aren't worth bringing home but occasionally I use the parts for assemblage arts.

I hate, repeat HATE, things that are still useful going into the land fills.    All our trash of that nature is hauled out of the keys to the Miami Dade land fills so in addition to the waste, we are spending $$$ in fuel costs.   I think that is a terrible mistake.   Make no mistake about it, my husband hates me hauling trash home; I don't mind at all.   Waste not, want not!

Here is the lamp.

Now you know that I am kinda dumpster diver.   Can't help it.  I have rewired a lot of lamps and it is a very easy procedure; one you should learn if you haven't done it.   I actually envision painting the base in a McKensie Childs manner with lots of bright colors and since I've never painted a lamp shade, might paint it too in harlequin.   Stay tuned.   When I bring something home and later decide it not something I want to keep - I donate it to either the Salvation Army or a group raising money for a worthy cause.   Either way, it works for me.

Maybe next week will yield great finds at the local yard sales.

Yard Sale (flea market, consignment shop, antique shop etc) Saturday

If you've been following this blog for any time at all, you know that I love yard sales, flea markets, consignment shops and antique shops or any variation of the above.    I am mulling over the idea of starting a regular posting every Saturday where we can post our finds.   Let me know by post, if you are interested in seeing this done and/or would you like to participate on it.

Today I found this very cute and love able Teddy Bear.   It has a little hidden compartment on the heart area where I or some small child could store their treasures.   The Ice Bucket with tongs will be used when I'm really feeling classy and the little jar with lid was just cute.   It was a very fun, although small crop of items, Yard Sale Saturday.
