QS Lighthouse interior

Last week I posted my Lighthouse.   It is quarter scale and made in a oatmeal box.    Lighthouses can be about any size and shape and can be made for housing the light keeper to just a tower with a ladder inside.    I wanted my light keeper to live there.

You can see the original posting HERE

Since my lighthouse isn't partitioned off in rooms, the large spaces are multi purposed.   The upstairs is a bedroom and work area with the light keeper's desk.    Downstairs is the living room including the kitchen.   You will note that the kitchen doesn't have a sink for doing dirty dishes, but it will very shortly.

This is the lower level with a stone floor - Could get waves spilling in from time to time.   Small kitchen with table for a meal and a very comfortable couch and chair.   The lighthouse pictures, the bed, the chair and the plate shelf were received in swaps.   The table is one I made for a swap.

The bedroom should be comfortable and functional.   Nice comfortable bed with a comfortable chair.   The light keeper has a nice desk to keep records.

The full lighthouse.
The picture below shows the rooms with the lights on.

Since I last posted pictures, my computer had some very major problems and I couldn't get to my documents or pictures.   I think it is fixed now.   Keep your fingers crossed for me.

QS Accessories

I believe accessories can either make or break a scene.   I like to have a lot of accessories in my stash to make finishing a scene quick and easy.

Today I took a class by Sally Manwell for a shelf filled - repeat filled - with accessories.     This little shelf has a basket, two pictures, locked box, lamp, flower arrangement, mounted shell, boxes, bottles and books.

The details were wonderful and the class was great fun.   We worked and laughed for hours.   It was really fun.

The table that follows is the first class I took from Sally.   This little table has everything you need to make the baked goods on the table.

Although I don't know where I will use the shelf of accessories, I used the table in my Art Deco House and you can see that HERE

New App for my iphone - collage picture

I love collage pictures and found an app for my phone.

Neat little applicagion.   Thought I would share with you.

QS Lighthouse Challenge

As you know I belong to several miniature swap groups.   I love them and always have quite a stash to work from when completing a scene.   Swap Shop decided we would do a lighthouse in any scale and I chose quarter scale.   I decided to make it out of an oatmeal container.   A lighthouse should be practical, with a desk, a bedroom, a living room, a kitchen to name only a few of the spots.

This lighthouse top came as a protector for something that was encased in the Styrofoam shape.   The minute I saw it, I thought "LIGHTHOUSE".   I also decided it could and should be lighted.

Today I am showing you the lighthouse - later, I will show you the finished lighthouse.

This is the lighthouse - without the lights on.

Here is the lighthouse  from the side.  The light on top is on to protect ships.    Made a ladder for the attendant to get to the light on top with a small balcony for the attendant to get a good view of the ocean.

Here the interior is lighted.

Stay tuned for a finished lighthouse.

QS Kits, Kits, Kits - one of my obsessions

I love kits and buy quite a few of them.   I'm always afraid I won't be able to find them again.   Well, as you can well imagine, I have quite a stash of them and really don't want the stash growing even larger.  The only way I know of for not growing your stash, is doing them before they find their way into storage.

Recently at the Molly Cromwell Sarasota Miniature Show I fell in love with these little hutch kits by Robin Betterley.   Well, if one is good - 6 or 7 are even better.   If you do miniatures, you know the feeling.

I love seasonal items so these are all seasonally related.    I haven't decided if they will all stay together, but I am leaning to using the in other settings as the need arises.

There was one done for valentines' day, Christmas, July 4th, Halloween Thanksgiving and a second one for Halloween.   All fun.

The above kits were my February OMB (One a Month Bunch) project for February.

I also found this cute little story book.   I am not a big fan of this type of project but since I collect Raggedy Anns, this was a must.

QS - Winter Market Stall

If you have been following my blog for any time at all, you know I love market stalls.   I have a hard time resisting them.    You can use the search blank on the right column and see many of the ones I've done.

Well, I just did it again.   I love Jill Castoral's kits and have attended many of her workshops.   She has great help from Pat Holstrom and together their workshops are absolutely fabulous.   The QS stall was not a workshop, but her kits have great instructions.     This project was my completed OMB (One a Month Bunch) project for Quarter Connection for January.   You might remember that I did projects each month last year where I finished an unstarted or an unfinished project.   Off to a good start this year.

Does the above kit look a little familiar??   I thought so.     You can the 1/12 scale winter market stall HERE

At the Sarasota show I bought a kit to do a QS Antique Shop.  That will be done soon.
