Firecracker Challenge

I belong to a Yahoo Miniature Group that has some of the most interesting projects.   This is just their latest one.   It was to do a firecracker challenge.   A container, preferably made from a round container such as salt box, oatmeal box etc.   Since I had never done a salt box container, I was set on doing that.   I did the box several weeks ago.   I did it right after I had completed my swap items.   I said I would do floor lamps.   Yesterday I received my swap items back from 16 swappers and decided to finish up my project.   

 I love the bedroom and the living room.  Lots of neat items.   The table would not fit outside by the walkway.   I tried several ways of doing it, but none of them worked.   I decided a roof top patio area was perfect.   I had to borrow a couple of pieces from a previous swap (tea time swap).   The container used was a clock container that was purchased from Salvation Army for one dollar.    The scale for this project is quarter inch.   

Fall and Spring Market Stalls

Last week I posted Summer and Winter market stalls.   I've got this 4 season thing going on now.   They are so cute.   I have little Plexiglas boxes for them, but they have been put in such a safe spot, I can't find them.   I will keep looking.

These were such fun!   The dime will give you an idea of their size.   This is Quarter Scale.  

Barbecue - 4th of July Bash.

Generally we wait until my son is home before we barbecue, but this year we decided to do steak and a giant sword fish steak.    While thinking of that, I decided to do a little barbecue scene.    I will probably add an item or two (looking for a realistic guy to do the cooking), but so far, so good.   

Scale on this scene is 1/12th.   If you know of a source for realistic resin 1/12 scale guys, let me know.    

Quarter Scale Market Stalls and a Day at the Spa

I was very busy the few days before the 4th.   I am really into the 4 seasons representations.   To that end I did a summer (4th of July) and winter (Snowmen).   The other two scenes are in process so stay tuned.    After all that work, I needed a day at the spa.   The market stalls are 1/4 scale and the day at the spa is 1/120 scale - not 1/12, but 1/120.  Remind me not to do that small of scale again.  

Look for the dime to really focus in on the scale.  

CHOCOLAT - Lakeland Miniature Guild - Fun Day 2012

When I saw the prototype photo of this project, I knew I had to be involved. I love chocolate and rarely let a day go by without a little chocolate in it. I do give it up for Lent - exercise in willpower. I like miniature scenes full of goodies. I want something new to look at from any angle. Same way I decorate my home.

One of the reasons I love shops like this is because you can pack tons of stuff into them.

My chandelier needs a bit of work, didn't know it was not hanging straight, but easy to solve.   Don't you love chocolate fountains.

Some scenes take a long time to work out, this was just the home for all the things I've been collecting over many years.   It was really great fun.

Those were the days tavern!

I have wanted to do a tavern for a long time.   One of those "those were the days" type taverns with a little diner flavor thrown in.   I wanted people in it that showed the characters that hang out in those places.   Years ago my husband and I owned a bar in Kansas City in the stockyards.   It was the Genessee Inn, across from the Golden Ox and we had lots of characters.   I was really glad we did that and am really glad we are no longer in that business.   

Let me introduce you to the characters.  There's Joe the bartender.   He likes his job.   He really was educated to do other things, but this pays good and he likes the customers.      There is Max at the end of the bar.   He dresses like a slob but always has money for the daily special.   He is there nearly every day and very little is known about him.   There is Red who has a high powered job and loves to come in occasionally and has stuck up a friendship with Max.   She brings her paper to read if Max isn't there or her timing is off.   She also loves the specials.   That is Grandpa  in the back.   He loves his beer, burger and fries.   Sometimes he has his granddaughter with him, but not today.    Last is Betty.   She loves being a waitress; makes lots of money in tips and has been there for as long as anyone remembers.   Sorry, you missed Jim, he ate and left.   Check back later, he might be there.

Oops, I forgot Lucky - he's behind the bar in his basket.   He just showed up one day and Joe takes him home with him every night; but insists he's not attached.   Lucky loves the attention he gets.

Little Garage for your Little Car

My Little Garage

This project is in 1/4 inch scale.   The car is slightly different, but it works well.   

 The gentleman of the house and his dog are home from a ride.   Mom's been working on her plants and has the train out to do a little painting touch up on it.  

I got this garage several months ago and just haven't had time to work on it.   I am in a 'finishing projects' mode now and it got finished this week.
