National Dollhouse Miniature Month - Day 19 - Toy shop in a clear paint can.

Well, I'm sure I've convinced you that I love miniatures and I love anything to do with Christmas and toys.    I found mention of these clear paint cans in one of the miniature groups that I belong to.   They come in gallon and quart sizes.   This is a 1/12 scale in a gallon can.

Well, of course I can explain.   

There are a lot of toys in this can.  There are some dolls bears, stuffed animals, etc.

The background is the front of a shopping bag.   I love all the boats, dolls, trucks, etc.   Such fun.  

A lot of toys were displayed on work bench that probably was intended for a garage workshop - oh well, I like it here.  

With the lid, the scene stays very good.   Might need to redo the poinsettia on the top, but it might clean up well this December.   Kids love this scene.   It is in 1/12 scale.

National Dollhouse Miniature Month - Day 18 - Two quarter scale domes

When I first started doing quarter scale; I didn't veer far from the project.   Generally bought kits and stayed with the directions.   I found these kits and made very few changes.   I love the domes and it keeps the projects really nice.   I did these back in either 2009/10.   Quite a while ago.

Two very similar shops - One called Kringle's and one is Jax n Jills.  Kringles is a Christmas shop with trees, wrapping paper, gifts, etc.  

Jax n Jill is a toy shop.   I didn't have too many toys when I started quarter scale, but I have so many more now and I should probably fatten up the stash in the shop.  

Really fun projects and not terribly time consuming.   Also, they go about anywhere and stay really nice within the domes.  

National Dollhouse Miniature Month - Day 17 - Santa and his toys

I don't have people in many scenes.   That doesn't mean I don't like miniature dolls, but I don't buy or do very many of them.

Quite a few years ago I bought a doll and it must have stayed on the shelf for a long time; so long in fact, that I don't remember how long.    Anyway, I finished my Santa doll and then figured he would look better with something beside him.   The toy bag was made out of a scrap of fabric used on another projet.   Love the toy horse and bear in the bag.   He also comes out every Christmas to shape the holiday.  

This doll is 1/12 scale.   The sleigh was a Christmas ornament that happen to just work with the rest of the project.   Base is faux snow that just paints on.   

National Dollhouse Miniature Month - Day 16 - A toy shop card was inspiration

I never know when inspiration will strike.   Sometimes it strikes like a hammer and other times it is much more inconspicuous when it shows up.       This card was one I received a long time ago and thought it was really cute.    I thought, wow - this could be the front of a toy shop.  I said I'd be doing Christmas themed items - I include toy shops with that theme.  

The card had to have the windows cut out and then I had the front for my toy shop.  

I added a battery operated light in the top.   It has dolls, bears, dollhouses, and a host of miscellaneous toys.

The little theatre on the top shelf was a printie that has held up immensely well.   When I started doing 1/12 scale (which this is) I used to put a Hershey bar in each scene.   There it is in the wagon.   

The battery operated light is in the little jewelry box that is attached to the top where you just pull off the lid to turn on the light.   I really like lighted projects, but don't always do it.

National Dollhouse Miniature Month - Day 15 - Christmas Themes - First Tree

For the next few days I will concentrate on the Christmas Theme.   When you read this it will be about 2 months until Christmas and maybe a little encouragement is headed your way.

When I joined my first miniature group, nearly 3 1/2  decades ago, one of the things I wanted to do was do a domed Christmas tree.   With the  experienced ladies in this group, they were inspired that I wanted to do it.   They found the pattern for the tree.   A dowel rod and lots of greenery.   Did that and then I was into decorating it.     

It was a piece that I fell in love with and I still pull it out every Christmas to share with friends and totally and completely enjoy looking at it. 

The tree is 1/12 scale and about 10 inches tall.   

This picture focuses on the paper rope chain lot kids do in school.   It is 36 inches long and took me over a week to make it.   Absolutely the most time consuming part of the project.   

Lots of toys and packages at the base of the tree.   It's going to be a very nice Christmas.

The little boat at the base was purchased in the St. Louis Airport and was made in Germany.   I paid a whopping 70 cents for it.  

Look at the tiny trucks next to the boy.    Lovely small trucks.

National Dollhouse Miniature Month - Day 14 - New Bedroom, Number 5, Black & White

Well, another bedroom.   I wish I had this many bedrooms in my house.   I'd be in 7th heaven.  I've had my bed and side table for years as well as the chair.   I actually have three more pieces of black bedroom furniture, a mirror, a large dresser and a hutch.   I will use them, just don't know when and where.

Here's the bedroom finished or mostly finished.   It is decked out with elegant bedspread and pillows.   She is getting ready to go on an outside vacation.   Has jeans, and two shirts ready to go along with the great red and white sneakers.   Love the scarf and hat.   She still has to gather a back pack, but she needs to go shopping for one of those.  

Lid removed but mirror mounted on wall.   Add double stick tape and glue and it stays on very well.

She loves her outside clothes, bur loves the pearls on the one sweater.  

Side chair holds the purse and scarf.  Her dogie hates to see her go, but he will just pile up on the bed and stay there for the time she is gone.  

She is not using here good red luggage, just really needs a backpack.  

Side table has coffee, gloves, lamp and a picture of my son and daughter in law at their wedding reception.  

Hard to ge a good picture of them, coffee keeps reflecting the coffee cup.  

Don't you just love these shoes.   Me too!

Well, I'm out of bedrooms to decorate so I'll talk about themes.    Some themes don't seem to get old with me and I end up with lots of room scenes of them.   I take you through some of my favorites.  

National Dollhouse Miniature Month - Day 13 - Bedroom 4

This is one scene that I actually utilized the color swaps.   Yellow !!!  Earlier this month I said that the 'color' swaps I used were rarely used because I didn't think that way.   Well, in this case I did.

The room is not exclusively yellow - but lots of yellow items.   The bedspread, dress on resident of the room, flowers, tea pot and a few other things.

The background shows a mirror on the wall and a coat rack on the clear wall.   Gives you much more reality.   When you see the coat rack, I don't think it presents itself as a rack on a clear wall, but on a wall.   Gives you much more insight into the room.  

Yellow towels with lots of ivory accessories.   Look close at the picture.   That is a miniaturized picture of my husband and I on our wedding day, 49+ years ago.  Make your scenes personal. 

Yellow roses, yellow tea set and a suit case filled with stuff for a trip.  

Close up of the suitcase.   Lots of really nice items in it including a passport.   Where or where is she going????

Doesn't she look good.   Clap the lid closed on the suitcase and she's off on her adventure.
