What do you do with an extra bead????

I love beads and have lots but then I ran across some projects on Pinterest and I didn't have the right ones so I did what any good crafter would do, I bought MORE!!!!!

I wanted a sort of Boho necklace.   I have the beads done TENTATIVELY.    I am awaiting another package with some wood beads that might have to be added and it's easier to just wait than to restring the beads totally.   

I like this and I have lots of turquoise and red clothes and I think this will go well with either.  One string had one really fancy bead.   Well I loved the bead but since I had my centerpiece bead on the necklace, I decided to make a pendant.

The big bead really caught my fancy and the little extra beads were just in my assortment.   Really like this.   Now my husband says "do you have enough necklaces yet?" when I add another one to my collection.   My answer is "ALMOST ENOUGH".   That answer shall keep me going for a very long, long time.  

Finished boxes

I love boxes and have LOTS of them.   I also have lots of boxes that will need to be finished someway and I will keep you posted on how that project is coming along.   I had 3 unfinished wood boxes and needed to get them in usable shape.    Some of you might know that I am sitting out some miniature swaps this fall to get caught up on all those other things that need to be done.   Either I am slowing down or have too many projects.   I'm voting on the later.   

I have seen boxes covered with polymer clay and thought I would use that approach to enrich these boxes.   I used the leftovers on the polymer clay and some gold rub on glaze.   I am very happy with the results.   

I think the 3 of them will look good together on a dresser.    Your  thoughts?  

Yard Sale Find!!!

I love yard sales and go frequently.   Now I don't keep everything I buy - sometimes I use it for awhile and then donate to Salvation Army.   Sometimes I sell on eBay and sometimes I buy things that get used in other projects.

About 3 weeks ago I went to a yard sale and saw a red chair.   It was cute but I really didn't get too close to it.   I knew I didn't need another chair but I've been kicking myself since that time.    This past Saturday, I went to a yard sale and on my way home saw a sign for another yard sale.   Well, low and behold, it was the same house that had the chair - THEY STILL HAD THE CHAIR.   It had lots of pillows on top of it and since I was the only one there, I took the pillows off and was looking for any damage to the chair.   The seller of the chair came over and I asked her the price.   I thought she said $5 and I repeated it and she corrected me - she only wanted $4 for it.   Well, I don't know how wrong you can be for only $4.   I bought it, it fit in the back seat and hear it is.   I just love it.   

 

Not really thrilled with the covering of the seat, but for the time being, I will leave it.   Really cute and really comfortable.   What fun for only $4.   

Keeping things out of the landfill - a trash picker's paradise

I don't often repeat a post that I find somewhere else, but for this I'll make an exception

HERE      is the link,   It's not a very long video, but worth the time to watch.   It's about a sanitation worker who has been finding things in the trash for a very long time and it's displayed.   He is not allowed to keep it, but it is on display.   Currently not display to the public but maybe soon it will be.

Well, I have an aversion to seeing things go into the landfill.   I bring quite a bit of stuff home, not nearly as much as I would like, but quite a bit.   Most of it gets cleaned up and donated to the Salvation Army or giving to a sister sorority for their sales for charitable donations.

Well, my sister and I talked a lot about trash picking yesterday and amazing, on my walk this morning, I found 7 wine glasses.


I saw this box sitting on the road next to a trash can.   I thought - what the hell, who couldn't use more wine glasses.   I got them home, washed up, and will put a bottle of wine in the fridge to chill.   A very good way to get the day started.

 Not much to catch my attention, but it did.

 7 perfectly good wine glasses - no chips!   I call it a set of 6 plus a spare.

August OMB - Kits, kits and more kits

I find it very difficult to finish projects if I have to stop what I'm doing and construct a table, a chair set, dresser, etc.    I like to make up several kits, 10 this month.   I made two sets of table and chairs, dollhouses, booth, cozy corner set, dresser for entry way and three kitchen accessories. 

 The kitchen accessories are really cute.

Watch for these items in upcoming projects.    

More Robots

I love recycling - I love recycling.   I hate seeing things being thrown out just to wind up in the land fills.   I, of course, throw some things out, but many things speak to me and they get given a new life.   

This is my latest endeavor.  

The soft ball has been in a shed for at least 10 years, the loving cup was something that I used a marble base from the full piece for another project.   The hat was a little piece that caught my attention in a parking lot in town,   I like this loving-cup hero!   

Another Tin Baby - only smaller

A few weeks ago I posted about making a Raggedy Ann Tin Baby.   You can find it  HERE  Well if one Raggedy Ann Tin Baby is good, two is even better.

I did have two of the little containers, but the other one must have bit the dust.   Silly me!
