Raggedy Ann Turns 100 - More Raggedies in Miniature

Thought you might enjoy some of the details in my miniature scene. The larger wagon is in 1" scale; the little wagon is in quarter inch scale. Both are very tiny. I didn't make either of these wagons, but bought both (in different years) at the St. Louis Miniature Show in October. I love them both.

I not only have enjoyed Raggedy Anns and Andys since I was a child, I continue to love them, in all sizes. My newest collection of Raggedies are Miniatures. I have added lots and lots of little Raggedies to this bedroom scene. Lots of my favorites in one spot.

Isn't this a cute little Raggedy Ann Bed. You can see the scale in the 2nd picture with the penny. It is quarter scale. My Raggedy Collection is quite large, so my collectibles have to get smaller. Quarter scale works nicely for that.

 I wrote a second article for Rags Magazine about talking to people about Raggedy Dolls. The first article was in the July edition and posted on July 10th, 2008.    This was  great publication that shared a true love for Raggedy Ann & Andy Dolls.   I truly miss the publication.

I am a real loyalist when it comes to buying things for my miniatures.   When I find a vendor that I like their work; love their quality and they deliver what they say they can deliver; I most always do multiple purchases.   I can't list all of my favorites - it would be like picking your favorite child - but I am going to list some that I have been dealing with for a long time.     These are not in any particular order - just vendors that I happen to have a real good relationship with.

Beds by Kelly.    The first time I saw one of her beds I loved it but thought it was really expensive.   I had a son in College and quite frankly it was taking every spare dime.   Like a real nit-wit I thought I could do a bed just like Kelly.   Well, about 5 beds later I found out I didn't have that skill and/or patience.   When I went back to her site the bed had been sold.   When I asked if she could make another she agreed.   This time I was pleased to pay her price because her quality is FANTASTIC.  

Somewhere in my future is a Mary Englebreit shop and this will be the centerpiece of that project.   Until then, I will gaze at it in wonder.   Isn't it sweet!.

Sometime after getting this bed (several years in fact) I decided at sometime I would do a shop for the adult collector of Raggedy Ann Items.   I sent Kelly an email and described what I wanted.  An elegant bed for a well-heeled adult collector that wanted elegance.   Not a child's bed.  

She nailed it!!!    Stay tuned for that shop that is still on my to-do list.

What a grand occasion, Raggedy Ann turns 100 in September of this year.   You are on a blog entitled Raggedy Kingdom and if you've followed it at all, you will note lots of references to Raggedy Ann.   FYI, Andy turns 100 in 2018.

My interest in Raggedy Ann has been a little sporadic over the years, but started very early in my life.   My first Raggedy Ann met with a biter end.   I was very young (about 3) and left here outdoors over the winter.   When my mom was raking the leaves and other stuff out from the plants in the spring, she was found.   She was way past the point of being fixable.   

 

Love of Raggedy Ann goes back a LONG Way!
