Miniatures in Quarter Inch Scale

I've recently become very interested in quarter-inch scale items. Melody is a new friend in the Keys and she does absolutely wonderful work in that scale, and although I believe my fingers are a little large for this scale, I am jumping in with both feet. What you are looking at is a little tiny court yard with a painter set up and by the looks of his art work, he if very prolific. You also are looking at a tiny apple farm stand. Be sure to look for the dime in a couple of scenes to get the right size comparison.

What to do with a plastic cube. Those cube designed to house collectibe basketballs. Well, they have other uses.

I love doing miniature room settings. I got this wonderful bed recently and knew it would be the basis to a great bedroom setting. The suit has been in my stash for years and years. I always thought it would get lost in most settings and I didn't want that to happen. I also found the greatest plastic cubes by Pioneer Plastics. It is the cube for displaying Basketballs. Well most of my settings tell a story. The lady who would occupy this room would be very sure of herself. She is in New York for shopping. After a day of shopping, she got herself a great suit, great spike heels, a wonderful fur hat and purse. Before she goes out to the theater district, she is going to enjoy a little wine, some shrimp and crackers. If that doesn't do the trick, she will open the candy

Look at that suit. I love the hat with it and the shoes and purse make a terrific look.

Didn't buy only clothes; make a great gift selection at the Bath & Body store.

The shoes are spike heals and have fur straps. Just the perfect finish to this outfit.

Shrimp, crackers & cheese, wine and candy. That should tide her over for awhile.

It is difficult to get a good picture when the light bounces off the plastic. But I must have a way to cover my room boxes to keep the dust out. Dust is always a problem in Key West.

Latest commission - Raggedy Collage

I love to do art pieces and have loved doing collage pieces. I especially love doing them for people who like my work well enough to pay me for doing a collage of their own. My friend Edie like one of the collages I had made in a Mary Englebreit theme. She asked if I could/would do a collage in a Raggedy Ann theme for her. Absolutely I would. I hope she enjoys it as much as I enjoyed making it. Size approximately 6" x 12".

Tablescape Thursday - Audubon House - Key West

I moved to Key West, Florida in 1994. I started vacationing in Key West in 1987. Loved it the first time I saw it and still love it. Another Tablescape Thursday made me think of one of the nicest tablescapes in town. . When we host out of town visitors, one of my fun past times is to play tourist and visit, or revisit, some of the lovely places in town. Recently I toured the Audubon House and gardens. This is the original home of Captain Geiger. It was built in 1846. James Audubon painted 18 of his birds at this location. On my recent visit, I really concentrated on the dining room after participating in several tablescape Thursdays. I don't know the pattern of the china, but I certainly love it. If you know the pattern, please let me know. If you get to Key West, be sure to stop by and see it in person.

Tablescape Thursday - Black & White and Red all over

Another Tablescape Thursday. Thanks to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch (http://www.betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/) for hosting the event. I love red and then I love to use Black & White with it. The napkins and napkin rings were Christmas presents from my sister. The black dishes were yard sale finds. The flatware, black and white plates and the salad set were from Ross. Less than $25 for all of it. The white serving bowl is from my wedding dishes.

Fluted stemware was a gift from my husband some 20 plus years ago. The smaller glasses were yard sale finds for $5 for a set of 4.

Red Table cloth, I found on the internet.

Tablescape Thursday - Valentines Day Dinner for Two

Valentine's is such a lovely holiday. What better way to celebrate than Dinner for Two. Be sure to stop by and visit Susan at http://www.betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ for lots of lovely tablescapes. I love Valentine's Day. I also love Red. I also collect hearts and that is what I used for a centerpiece around the bouquet of hearts.

Both sets of glasses were obtained at yard sales for $5 for a set of 4.

The heart plates were from Ross for $3 each.

The flatware with clear acrylic handles also obtained from Ross for about $12 for a set of 20 pieces (serve for 4).

Each heart plate is a different pattern.
